ONLINE IRISH ART AUCTION
168 Lots of affordable Irish Art
Lots of value here and many pictures that I would be happy to hang on my walls unlike much of the over hyped, overpriced dross that appears in the ‘great‘ Art Salerooms. Have a look – you won’t be disappointed!
Starts: 22nd June 2011 at 10:00

Interesting Collection of Magic Lantern Slides in forthcoming Hegarty’s (Bandon) Sale
Lot.405. Important late 19th century magic lantern, made by Riley Bros of Bradford, who later pioneered cinema in Britain, with accompanying slides of Irish & international subjects of significant historical interest.
Included in Hegarty’s sale at Bandon on Sunday 19th June are a large collection of magic lantern slides featuring Irish and International scenes. The slides which had lain forgotten about for many years recently came to light during a house clearance in Dunmanway. It appears from the press report below that they are largely from commercial magic lantern slide producers but they are very interesting nonetheless. Hegarty’s are guiding a price of €1,500 – €2,500 and it will be interesting to see what interest there is in them. myantiques.tv set to make a big splash in Ireland
An exciting new venture which should be of interest to collectors everywhere is myantiques.tv an Irish initiative. myantiques.tv uses video clips, not reams of text like numerous other antiques websites, and features interviews with a range of experts in fields such as fine art, antiques, maps and rare books to provide a wonderful range of insights into these fascinating fields.
From their own blurb:
An always-on TV station about antiques. With new programmes every day. Expert presenters, not actors. REAL news about what is happening in the Antiques business in the UK and world-wide.
A station which will allow you to reach out and ask questions, give answers and join groups of people with similar interests. With offices in London and Dublin, myantiques.tv is the only special interest TV station for people who are truly, madly, passionately in love with antiques. We create and produce entirely original content every day. Our programmes are short, rarely more than four minutes, often less. We want to help you to spot bargains, market trends, share information (or not!)
Myantiques.tv is owned and managed by Lifeonmedia.com, an online video production company.
Have a look at these YouTube videos and see for yourselves – a very worthwhile undertaking in my opinion.

SALE OF IMPORTANT IRISH ART
At: The Salerooms, 26 St.Stephen’s Green

155 lots – Some of the familiar ‘big’ names are here, including Maurice Wilks, Frank McKelvey, Jack B Yeats, Frank Egginton, Paul Henry, Sir William Orpen, Erskine Nicol, Walter Frederick Osborne, Sir John Lavery, Louis le Brocquy, Tony O’Malley, Colin Middleton, Harry Kernoff as well as a host of lesser known artists.
The two Jack B Yeats works/daubs both carry high estimates though it’s hard to see why you would want either hanging on your wall. Lot.54. “The Waterfall by the Road” (below) is thought to depict the beautiful Glenmacnass Waterfall in County Wicklow but it would encourage few to visit the location. The ubiquitous Louis le Brocquy features too, as does the undecipherable Tony O’Malley but, as usual for me, it is the Paul Henry, Lot.16. (pictured bottom) which is head and shoulders above the rest. Priced to sell – a snip at the pre-sale estimate of €60,000 – €80,000.
