If you love browsing and bagging a bargain for yourself, as a gift for a friend, or for the home … Find your gem among the 40 indoor and outdoor stalls selling a range of quality antiques and bargain vintage, including fine silver and porcelain, antique and vintage furniture, rare books and collectors’ items, vintage fashion, superb jewellery, curios and more.
Make a day of it with guided tours of the house, music recital in the main hall, lunch in the Courtyard Cafe, or walk and explore the extensive grounds of Castletown House which sweep down to the banks of the river wild – a pristine Liffey as many natives of Dublin’s fair city have never it, progressing along banks shaded by willows, with wild rapids and tranquil pools. There are also many architectural curiosities dotted around the estate which it is worth your while to explore. Weather permitting, bring a picnic or enjoy lunch al fresco from the various food stalls, or lunch in the Courtyard Cafe situated in the restored 18th century kitchen wing and courtyard of Castletown House.
See http://www.castletownhouse.ie/ for details of the facilities, location map and a virtual tour of the house, or take a guided tour this Sunday – tour costs €4.50 for adults – groups can book in advance on (01) 628 8252.
