sligo fair

To reflect the historical significance of the year 2014, the organisers of the Sligo Antiques & Collectables Fair have placed a particular emphasis on World War 1 memorabilia, and militaria in general. With this in mind they have invited and are delighted to welcome Mr. Conor Dodd to the Fair.   Conor has featured regularly as the military history expert and consultant on RTE’s programme “Who do you think you are?”, and has been employed as a researcher by TG4, ITV and BBC. He has expert knowledge of militaria and military related items, such as medals, paperwork, photographs, and in particular in relation to the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC), Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP), and Irish regiments of the British army. Visitors to the Fair will have the opportunity to have individual items identified and valued by Conor, between 12 midday and 2.00pm and then again between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. This is a unique opportunity, for both amateurs and serious collectors alike, to avail of Conor’s expertise. So dig out that old photograph or military hat or medal and bring it to the fair. There will be no charge for Conor’s expertise!

The fair itself will gather together some of the top local and national antique dealers in one location. Items for sale will include furniture, jewellery, porcelain & pottery, glassware, silver and metalware, clocks and watches, oriental rugs, antiquarian and 1st edition books, paintings & prints, militaria, ephemera, collectables… and much more!

Everyone from the serious investor to those with a casual interest will be welcome. There will be something for everyone at prices from a few euros upwards.

Admission: €3.50 (€2.50 for students and OAPs) and is FREE for children under 16, who are welcome when accompanied and supervised by an adult.

We look forward to seeing you there.

  1. Thanks for sharing this :)

I tried contacting The Numismatic Society of Ireland but their phone number seems dead. Do you have the correct one?

    Thanks

    Sorin

    1. Hello Sorin,
Sorry about that, the phone number is the one on the RDS website and it does indeed appear to be disconnected. Sadly, it’s the only number that I have.
      David

  2. Thank David for your fast reply :)

Ahh .. ok, I wanted to ask them if it is ok to give some flyers to people.

I run a website called http://www.allnumis.com , it is not commercial, just a hobby project I’m running in my free time. This is what I want to advertise to the Irish collectors (I’m from Romania and I came to Ireland only few months ago so basically I don’t know any collectors yet).

    Regards

    Sorin
