Lot.405. Important late 19th century magic lantern, made by Riley Bros of Bradford, who later pioneered cinema in Britain, with accompanying slides of Irish & international subjects of significant historical interest.

Included in Hegarty’s sale at Bandon on Sunday 19th June are a large collection of magic lantern slides featuring Irish and International scenes. The slides which had lain forgotten about for many years recently came to light during a house clearance in Dunmanway. It appears from the press report below that they are largely from commercial magic lantern slide producers but they are very interesting nonetheless. Hegarty’s are guiding a price of €1,500 – €2,500 and it will be interesting to see what interest there is in them.
