Wexford Festival Antique & Fine Arts Fair

Talbot Hotel, Wexford

From: Thursday, 21st October – Monday 25th October

At: Noon – 8pm daily

The 39th Wexford Festival Antiques Fair takes place in the Talbot Hotel over the October Bank Holiday. The hotel is situated at the south end of Wexford’s quayside. Run as a fringe event to the Wexford Opera Festival this Fair rarely disappoints me – reasonable prices and a diverse range of stock.

Trim Castle Hotel – Antiques Fair – Sunday 24th October, 2010

Trim Castle Hotel Antiques Fair,

Trim Castle Hotel, Trim, Co.Meath

Sunday 24th October – Noon to 6pm

The second of the bi-annual antiques fairs in Trim takes place this Sunday in Trim Castle Hotel. Twenty dealers from around the country will be taking part in the fair  ranging from local book dealer Richard Haworth, a regular at this event, to newcomers to Trim, Athlone Antiques, who specialise in fine art. Athlone Antiques will be exhibiting a number of new works by Irish artists Mark O’Neill, Grace Cunningham and Arthur K Maderson. Vintage fashion and fashion accessories, curios and decorative antiques, jewellery, collectors items including coins and banknotes, will also feature.

Why not make a day of it! Located just a half hour from Dublin, Trim is a world away from bustle of the city. The Trim Castle Hotel is located opposite Trim’s historic Norman castle, and serves a good value carvery lunch. There is also an à la carte restaurant for fine dining, and self-service coffee shop/restaurant for light snacks, great for afternoon tea. The exhibition room is on the first floor, with wonderful balcony views of the castle and the old church. The town of Trim and the surrounding area is just full of historic monuments and ruins, and if the weather is fine, there is a beautiful river walk which meanders through pretty meadows and with wonderful views at every turn.

Graiguenamanagh – Town of Books September 17th/19th

Graiguenamanagh Tourism are pleased to announce the 8th Annual Graiguenamanagh ‘Town of Books’ Festival, which will take place in Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny, on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th, and Sunday 19th September 2010. For one weekend in September Graiguenamanagh will be transformed literally (no pun intended) into a ‘Town of Books’.

Whether you are looking for a special book, out of date and out of print, first edition or author signed, or whether you are looking for bargain books at great prices, then Graiguenamanagh ‘Town of books’ is a must for you. And this is only the beginning. The establishment of this festival has resulted in a permanent antiquarian bookmarket being established in Graigue, and more bookshops are being planned for the future. As well as all that, the weekend will feature lots of music and entertainment and a brilliant food and craft market on the Sunday.

The above was lifted from the booktown website here: http://www.booktownireland.com/index.php which was not working properly when I visited tonight. This event, now in its eighth year, sees book dealers from all over Ireland setting up shop in Graiguenamanagh for the weekend and is well worth dropping in on if you’re in the South East.
