All-Ireland Ferguson Heritage Vintage Rally – Castletownroche – Sunday, 19th July 2015

The village of Castletownroche, County Cork is set to once again roll back the years and bask in the glow of nostalgia next Sunday when it plays host to the 2015 All-Ireland Ferguson Heritage Vintage Rally on Sunday, 19th July.

One of the most popular events of its kind in the country, the rally is expected to draw thousands of people to the village for a family day of fun and excitement.

The main focus of the day will be on the past with a huge selection of vintage tractors, engines, cars and bikes taking centre stage at the car boot sale site.

While the display will form a central part of the rally, it will by no means be the only attraction taking place on the day with a plethora of events for people of all ages and tastes.

Working demonstrations of reaping and binding, threshing, bailing, combine harvesting and silage cutting will mix traditional and modern farming styles allowing people to see at first hand how the agriculture industry has developed over the decades.

Other attractions will include demonstrations of cabbage planting, ploughing, harrowing and setting.

The more adventurous visitors can also avail of the opportunity for a bird’s eye view of the rally, with helicopter pleasure rides taking place throughout the day.

While older visitors will be taking in the sights and sounds of the event, organisers have not forgotten the younger generation laying on entertainment for them throughout the day.

On site catering will also mean people can enjoy a bite to eat while soaking in the atmosphere.

Organising committee member Billy Sheehan said it was quite a coup to get the event back to Castletownroche for the second year in succession.

“The stage is set for a great day out for all the family. The only thing we can’t organise will be the weather but I gather the forecast for Sunday is good,” said Billy.

Entrance to the rally will be €8 with plenty of free car parking available on site.

Castletownroche is on the N72 Mallow/Fermoy road.
